We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. When we provide credit services, we also follow the credit reporting rules in Part IIIA of the Privacy Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code. What personal information we collect

Personal information is information or an opinion that identifies you or could reasonably identify you. Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name, email address, phone number and address
  • details you share in an enquiry, such as your interest in The Broker Way, referral partnerships, speaking engagements or finance
  • if you go on to apply for a loan, information needed to assess and arrange credit, such as your identification, employment, income, expenses, assets, liabilities and credit history
  • information about how you use our website, collected through cookies and analytics tools

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you wherever we can, including through our enquiry form, by email, by phone, in meetings and at events. Sometimes we receive information from third parties, such as referral partners, lenders, credit reporting bodies or publicly available sources. When this happens, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and get back to you
  • arrange speaking engagements, panels and events
  • share information about The Broker Way and our referral partner program
  • provide credit assistance and help you apply for finance
  • send you updates and marketing, which you can unsubscribe from at any time
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations

If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to help you with your request.

Sensitive information

Sensitive information includes things like your health, religious beliefs, racial or ethnic origin and criminal record. We only collect sensitive information with your consent, when it is reasonably needed for the service you have asked for, or when the law requires or allows it.

Who we share it with

We only share your personal information when it is needed for the purpose you gave it to us, when you consent, or when the law requires or allows it. If you apply for finance, this may include:

  • lenders, our aggregator and other service providers involved in your application
  • credit reporting bodies, valuers, insurers and settlement agents
  • professional advisers, such as your accountant or solicitor, with your permission
  • IT, email and CRM providers who help us run our business

Some of these providers may store information outside Australia. When that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in line with Australian privacy law.

Cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, although some parts of the site may not work as intended.

How we keep it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. We keep client records for at least seven years, as required by law. When we no longer need your information, we securely destroy it or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Please contact us in writing. We may need to confirm your identity first. We won't charge you for making a request, but we may charge a reasonable fee for providing copies.
